Deployment Dinners

I always struggle with meal planning during deployment.
Last deployment it was just me and 2 small kids.
This time it's just me and 3 small kids who still don't eat a whole lot.

I always say I'm cooking for 1 and 1/2.

It's a challenge for me to find quick, manageable, healthy dinners
that I don't have to make 8 servings of and that my kids will
actually eat. Nothing is more frustrating for me than slaving over
a wonderful meal and my kids refusing to eat it because its "yucky".

I know I can cut recipes in half or whatever but most of the time
I'm too fricken exhausted from the day to even want to cook
something with a recipe!

I've worked on it during this deployment and I've found a few meals
that are easy to manage, affordable, quick, healthy and easy to adapt
serving sizes depending on how many mouths you are feeding.

Here are some meals currently in rotation around here...

1. Ravioli
A bag of frozen ravioli and a jar of your favorite sauce
and you have a meal. You just cook as much
ravioli as you need and save the rest for another time.
I also freeze leftover sauce in 1 cup increments
which comes in handy for pasta lunches or your next
ravioli dinner night.

2. Tuna Casserole
My kids absolutely love tuna casserole. This is one meal
that I will cook and freeze half. I usually cook the 2nd dish
the following week. I use this recipe HERE and FYI,
the potato chips are a must.

3. Tacos
Who doesn't love tacos. Cheap, easy, quick and the kids
can customize their individual servings to their liking.

4. Kraft Chicken
I actually love Kraft's Fresh Take products. They have a few
different options and so far, the ones I've tried are really good.
My kids are very picky about eating meat but they always eat
this when I make it.

5. Pita Pizzas
Pita bread + Pizza sauce + Pizza toppings
Personal pizzas and, again, customizable to each person's
individual taste.

6. BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
For those days when we're super busy or not getting home until
dinner time, I like to make this. Throw the chicken in the crockpot
with some water and BBQ sauce and cook on low for 6ish hours.
At dinner time shred the chicken and add more BBQ sauce to your liking.
Serve on hamburger buns or rolls. Always a hit with the kids.

7. Spaghetti
Easyyyyyy. Everyone knows how to make spaghetti, I think. Make it
with meatballs, meat sauce, italian sausage or just noodles and sauce.
I scored a value pack of italian sausage about a month ago at the
commissary for an awesome deal and I'm sure it'll last us through
the rest of the deployment.

8. Hamburgers
When hubby isn't home I cook hamburgers on the stove because I
don't know how to use the grill lol I buy a pack of buns and freeze
what we don't use.

9. Ham & Cheese Sliders
One of my faaaaavorite meals any time of the day! A friend got this
recipe from Pinterest and made it for my baby shower and I've been
in love ever since. The recipe is HERE.

10. Breakfast
Breakfast for dinner is always fun. Pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs,
bacon, sausage, hash browns. There are so many options and you only need
to cook as much as you need.

I have to add that I serve fruit or veggies with every meal I make. My kids
don't turn their nose up at fruits or veggies and will even eat a good salad.
Fresh fruit always accompanies our breakfast for dinner :)

And one last thing to leave you with. I had my first Five Guys burger
today since they just opened one on base about a block from my house.
All I can say is, this could get dangerous.

Tis the Season

I'm baaaaaaack.
I had a short hiatus as the kids and I visited some family.

It's one of those "must do" things during deployment I think.

It was a wonderful trip and now we are home and ready to get
back into the swing of things which includes my blog!

(I missed you, bloggy! *pat pat*)

SO It's starting to warm up a little bit around these parts.
Spring is right around the corner.
Birds are tweeting, plants are sprouting,
crickets are....returning *shudders*

And this is the time of year I start planning my garden
and flower beds.

I have this section along the front walkway outside my
house that always looks so plain and boring.

It really bothered me when we first moved in and last year I
finally decided to do something about it and plant some flowers.
They turned out to be very pretty and they grew really well
in the desert heat so I will plant the same kind again this year.

In the back yard I have a small garden bed my hubby built for us
after we moved in. I'm eager to get it started this season!

I have to share one of my favorite websites.

Type in your zip code and it will give you a growing guide
specific to your area with instructions (and drawings) to help
you along the way!

Project Backyard

Time for another embarrassing moment for Yours Truly!

I left my backyard out of my home tour for the sole
reason that it was highly unattractive at the time.

Well not much has changed.

BUT I said when I started my blog that this would be
my source of motivation to accomplish what I needed to
do around my house.

So without further adieu, take a look at my backyard...

Now in my defense, everyone's grass here looks like this
in the winter! Our front yards all look this way too :(
However, its beginning to warm up so its starting to green up.

We have the biggest backyard available here and I'm ashamed
of how ours looks! We don't spend a whole lot of time outside
during the winter but with Spring right around the corner, I need
to get it cleaned up for the kids.

My Goals
Plant a flower garden
Paint the garden bed
Reseed the grass
Stain and seal the play structure
Repair anything loose or broken on play structure
Fix up the trampoline

Wish me luck!

For those of you wondering what happened to my laundry room,
its still a work in progress. I am very close to finishing it so here
is a sneak peek!

Worldwide Treasure Hunting

Have you heard of geocaching?

Those who know about it, know.

The ones who don't need a long, drawn out, detailed
explanation of it and even then they don't totally understand
until they actually do it.

The definition on the website, geocaching.com, says
"A free world-wide outdoor treasure hunt. Players try to locate
hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS
and then share their experiences online."

For more details you can watch this...

I remember geocaching with my mom as a kid.
It was a lot less common back then.
When Andrew and I moved back to CA we started doing
it together as a hobby.
Soooo fun!

Andrew even tracked some down in Japan during his last deployment!

I think the hardest cache we ever found was in Oceanside, CA.
It was inside a Mini M&M container with sticks and leaves
glued to the outside and hidden at the bottom of a tree.

Check out these other creative caches...

Although a lot of them just look like this...

Another fun thing we like to do in the world of geocaching
are travel bugs. You purchase this little tag and each one has
its own tracking number. Attach the tag to whatever you want
to send on an adventure. As it travels from cache to cache, other
geocachers will enter the tracking number on the website so you
can follow it's journey. You can post a "goal" for your item or just
see where it ends up. Geocoins have the same concept.

It's a great past time to spend time with family/friends, enjoy
the outdoors, get some exercise and have fun!

I highly recommend trying it out if you haven't yet. I just ask a couple things
of you. Please be respectful of nature as you hunt or place your caches. Please be
considerate of the caches you find and put them back the way you found them.
Many, many people enjoy geocaching and we rely on each other to keep it
running smoothly.

Join the crowd at geocaching.com and check out how many caches are in your area.

50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?
That depends on what day it is. Sometimes I feel 17 again, sometimes I feel like I should be 35.

Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Obviously never trying is worse. That's one thing I'm trying to teach my oldest right now. Failing is ok, learn from your mistakes and try again.

If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don't
like and like so many things we don't do?
I think people just get used to being dreamers instead of doers. We do so many things we don't like because we settle, we underestimate ourselves, we get comfortable and forget that we have the power to live this life however we choose.

When it's all said and done, will you have said more than you've done?
lol probably, I talk a lot. But seriously, I'm trying to do more. That's my main reason for creating my 101 in 1001 list :)

What is the one thing you'd most like to change about the world?
The way we treat each other. In the grand scheme of things, we are  all the same. We all bleed red. We all deserve to be happy and to be loved. I wish people were more respectful of other people's opinions. I wish people realized that no one is better than anyone else. Stop being mean and take care of each other. Enjoy life.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
Holding sleeping newborns.
Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I feel like I'm doing what I believe it. I've learned a lot about myself recently and have been stronger at making choices that are best for me and my family.
If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
I try to live like this anyway. You never know when your time will come, or when the people around you will no longer be there. I learned about unexpected death at an early age and I definitely believe that's led me to live with this perspective.
To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
I feel like I've controlled what I can. It was my choice to get married when I did and each baby was planned. I chose not to go to college and become a stay at home mom. I took control of my daughter's education and committed to homeschooling her. A lot of things are out of your control as a military spouse but you can control how you handle them!
Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
I'm all about doing the right things. I can admit when I'm wrong. I'm not the type of person to want to be the best at everything. I believe that making mistakes is just another opportunity to grow. I don't see it as a failure.
You're having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
This ones easy. I've been in situations like this and I'm not afraid to stand up for my friend. It doesn't have to be rude but I would probably say something like "Actually, I'm pretty good friends with _____ and she's not really like that once you get to know her. Sorry she gave you that impression." and then follow up with some examples. If I truly disagreed with what they were saying, I wouldn't have a problem speaking up.

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
There are lots of people in this world who just want to bring other people down. Don't let them. That attitude is a reflection on themselves, not you.

Would you break the law to save a loved one?
Hmm that would totally depend on the situation. I can't even answer that one.

Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
One time, my friend Carly made a quesadilla with Cheez Its and soy sauce and I was like "That's insanity." And then I tried it and I was like "Wow she's so creative!"

What's something you know you do differently than most people?
Oh jeez, I'm so different than most people. Maybe my sense of humor is different than most people but that's not something I "do".

How come the things that make you happy don't make everyone happy?
Because we all have different likes and dislikes. What makes me happy is people who can accept the fact that not everyone has the same happiness.

What is one thing you have not done that you really want to do and what's holding you back?
I really want to start school. What's holding me back is I'm supposed to use Andrew's GI Bill and I have no idea how to go about that!
Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
Yes I am. I'm trying to move forward but that's so much easier said than done.
If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
Hmm maybe Italy or Australia. A different state, Arizona or Texas...yes, this Cali girl would move to Texas!!
Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
Um no. Who wrote these questions?

Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
I think I'm already a joyful simpleton. Ignorance is bliss, right?
Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
Losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you. Having the opportunity to have a great friendship and not taking advantage of that is sad. Also, if a good friend moved away, and you were really good friends, distance wouldn't matter.

What are you most grateful for?
I can honestly say, my husband. I live a very nice, comfortable life and I wouldn't be able to do it if it wasn't for his hard work and commitment to the military. I married him as soon as I became and adult so I've never had to worry about money, health insurance, food, or housing. My kids have nice clothes, a nice home to live in, we have the ability to afford extracurricular activities for them, we drive a nice car. I don't know where I would be in life if I hadn't met him.
Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
I would rather never be able to make new ones.
Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
 It's possible, trust me ;)
Has your greatest fear ever come true?
Yes, unfortunately.
Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
Actually I do and actually it does lol
What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
My happiest childhood memories are always the simplest ones. Playing Barbies with my sister and Carly. Playing in the mud outside or climbing the trees in my yard. I don't have one thing that sticks out in particular.

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
I'm gonna have to say the day Andrew deployed. I think that was the day I realized that our marriage is going to be ok and that I can handle this deployment a lot better than the last. I felt confident, in love, and proud of my family.

If not now, then when?
When its time.

If you haven't achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
Exactly!

Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
Apparently not because I have no idea what you're talking about.

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?
I don't know. It goes along with the whole "Respect other's opinions" thing.

Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
Again, a matter of opinion.

If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
I don't have a job! lol But if I did, no. A million dollars only lasts so long.

Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
More work I enjoy doing. It would most likely involve helping people in some way so the more work I had, the more I'd be helping.

Do you feel like you've lived this day a hundred times before?
You mean the one where I wake up, clean, change diapers, cook, clean and then go to bed? Yes.

When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
I don't do that very often but maybe committing to this blog? I'm enjoying it though and I've gotten more of an audience than I expected!
If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
My mom and dad and sister.
Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
Ew no. That's stupid.
What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
Well anyone can be alive. That's easy. Truly living is really making an effort to live your best life every single day. Take advantage of opportunities that come your way and don't let anyone hinder your capabilities.
When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
If you know its right then just do it.
If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
Because we are trained to think that mistakes equal failure. We grow up with a fear of failure therefore we fear mistakes. One of the reasons I'm working on this with Kayden. I want my kids growing up with a different point of view.
What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I would be more open about my beliefs. I mostly keep it all to myself because I really don't feel like debating with people about it.
When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
Wednesday when I saw the respiratory therapist and she made me take deep breaths.
What do you love? Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?
I love eating and I've eaten quite a few times today, does that count?
In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?
Probably since it was Valentine's Day and we had a fabulous party with our play group.
What about the day before that? Or the day before that?
Probably not lol
Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?
Definitely making them for myself. I feel stronger than ever.

Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
 I hope so. I try.
Why are you, you?
I've learned a lot in my short time on this earth. Been through quite a few experiences that have taught me about life. Appreciate what you have, live happy and healthy, and laugh a lot.

Does Your Face Light Up?

I remember the first time I saw this clip on Oprah.
It has stuck with me ever since.

Those of you who are around me in person have
probably noticed how I always greet children
around me with a big smile, a big hug, or a compliment.

Well that video is exactly why.
If you didn't watch it and went immediately to
reading this, please watch it before you go any further.

When I had my first baby, my daughter Kayden,
I remember being terrified and thinking
"Every single thing I say or do with this child will
mold her into the type of person she will become."
It scared me! I was so afraid of messing her up!

The further I traveled down the parenting road,
the more I relaxed and acknowledged that we as
parents will make mistakes, but kids just want to be loved.

I had a friend come over today (shoutout! Sam Bam!)
And for a minute I was horribly embarrassed of what
a complete wreck my house is.
But do you know why my house isn't clean?
Because we haven't had time! The kids and I have
been having such a fun busy week bowling, having friends
over, spending all day Wed with our friends and going to the park,
then going to a Girl Scout ceremony for my oldest daughter.
This morning we woke up and headed out for a Valentine's
Day party with our play group.

So my embarrassment quickly vanished when I
realized that I put my kids before my house cleaning
this week, and that's the way it should be.

Children are such special creatures and we should really
pay attention to the way we treat them and the things we
say to them.

I have some personal goals to work on with my own kids:

1. Friday Game Night - Davin is at the age (3) where he can
kind of understand how to play games, take turns and
lose graciously. Not only will regular game nights strengthen
these qualities in my kids, we'll be getting some good quality
time together as well.
2. Saturday Movie Night - We do this probably once or
twice a month but I want to do better about making it
a weekly tradition.
3. Dinner Around the Table - We are very good about doing
this when Andrew's home. But when he's gone, I slack. The
kids sit at the table and I sit on the couch or take bites of my
dinner while unloading the dishwasher. I need to get better
about eating dinner together even when hubby's not here. It's
how Andrew and I were both raised and I feel its important.
4. Listening - I really try to do this, but I do need to get a little
better. Getting down to their level, giving them my full attention
and truly listening to them. Whether its a "silly" story they have,
or a complaint, or a question, I want them to know that what
they have to say is important to me and important enough for my
full, undivided attention.

Whether you have kids or don't, please let your face light up
when one walks into the room :)

Wordless Wednesday

Wednesday is by far my busiest day of the week.
So until life settles down, I'm going to join the crowd
with Wordless Wednesday posts.

It will be anything, a picture from my life, a picture
I enjoy, something on YouTube I feel like sharing.

And those are the only words you will ever see on
a Wordless Wednesday post. Ok, on to the wordless part...

:)

(That wasn't a word, it was an expression)
(Ok those were words.)
(Man, I suck at this.)

The Lucky 7

I first read this blog a few months ago
and it really made sense to me.

Yes, SEVEN bank accounts.

At first I was like "That can't be good for business."
But as I read on, I realized there really isn't any kind
of penalty for having multiple accounts open.

Think of it like filing your money the way you file
your paperwork. Each file has its own purpose.
Each account has its own purpose.

I told hubby about the idea and he was on board.
We will move a certain amount into each account
every paycheck, depending on how we budget them.

We've decided to break ours down this way....
1. Husband's Acct
(Lunches, haircuts, internet in Japan, spending money)
2. Wife's Acct
(Grocery shopping, babysitting, gas, care packages, spending money)
3. Emergency
(Try really really hard not to touch this, ever!)
4. New Car Savings
(We opened a high-yield online savings account at Ally for this)
5. Family Savings
(For expected expenses: tires for the car, dental visits, etc)
6. Fun Money
(For vacations, trips, fun things we want to do with the kids)
7. Family Checking
(The hub of the whole ordeal)

With our money being "out of sight, out of mind" I
expect us to save a lot more than we currently do.

Even if we start by putting $10 in each account,
its better than nothing!

Since its tax time and most people are getting their
refunds back, I thought it would be a good time to
share this information. It is definitely a different
approach to saving, but could possibly be very effective!

Also, if you haven't signed up for mint.com yet,
I highly recommend it.

Especially if you open a million different accounts.
Mint.com will keep them all in one spot to make it easy!

Positive Living

Monday seems to be an appropriate day for this post.
People are typically bummed out on Mondays.
In fact the whole world seems to be bummed out.
Always.
Everything is so negative.

I don't even watch the news anymore because I
can't handle being sad, worried and concerned all
of the time.

I'm not saying I'm naive to the problems of
the world, but we only have one life to live
and I'd like to enjoy it.

From now on, I will be posting POSITIVE and
UPLIFTING news articles on my Facebook page.
A little reassurance that there is good in this world.

I want this blog to be a happy place for people
to come to. I want the people in my life to practice
living life in a positive light.

If we all chose to live with just a little more positivity,
we can make this world just a teeny tiny bit better.

You all have an assignment to do now.
At some point this week, do something POSITIVE.
  • Bake cookies for a friend and add a note about how much you appreciate them.
  • Write a nice e-mail to one of your favorite companies and tell them why you love them.
  • If you have a friend in need, take some time to really listen to them. Sometimes you just need someone to listen to you.
  • Smile at strangers.
  • Hold the door open for somebody.
  • Say please and thank you.
It doesn't take much and you could possibly
turn someone's day completely around by doing
one small thing for them.

“People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.”
― Steve Maraboli

And now for the single, most inspirational picture I've ever seen....

Keys to Surviving Deployment

Almost everyone married to the military will
eventually have to endure the dreaded D word.

I've been married to my husband for almost 7 years.
Wow.
But that also means we've had our fair share of deployments.

Every deployment is different.
Everyone has their own way of handling them.
I've gone through easy deployments
and I've gone through deployments from you-know-where.

Here is some advice, from one military spouse to
another, on how to make deployment just a tad bit easier.

Make Small Goals

While my husband is gone, I like to make a list of small
tasks or goals that I can complete while he's gone.

Some things I have planned for this deployment are
cleaning up the laundry room,
organizing the garage,
get all of our pictures printed and into photo albums,
get all our home movies organized or onto DVDs,
work on the kid's scrapbooks.

Having goals will keep your mind busy, help the days
go by quicker, and if you plan them right, you'll actually
be productive while your spouse is gone :)

Meal Swapping

I'm not doing it this time, but during our last deployment
I had 2 other ladies participating in a meal swap with me.

We each had designated days of the week and we would cook
and deliver dinner to each other.

I can't tell you how much I loved doing this!

I cooked Tuesdays, but I had dinner made (and delivered)
to me two other days of the week.

It saved me money, we got to try new recipes, it took some
pressure off trying to come up with something for dinner,
and I got to see my friends a few days a week :)

I was also getting so frustrated trying to cook for just me
and 2 small kids (I was pregnant at the time). Making a full
meal was out of the question because there wasn't enough people
here to eat it all! So this gave me the opportunity to cook an entire
meal and share it with my friends.

I highly recommend finding a couple people to meal swap with
during your next deployment.

Find a Reliable Sitter/Swap Babysitting

This is a MUST if you have kids.
I have the luxury of having both a reliable sitter
and a friend to swap kids with and it is really one
of the biggest things helping me through.

I watch my friend's kids on Tuesday mornings and
she watches mine on Wednesday mornings.
We use that time to run errands, make dr appts, swing by
the commissary, drop a care package off at the post office, etc.
We even told each other that it was ok to use that time
to go home and lay in bed with a quiet house!

It's REALLY nice to be able to run errands without
dragging the kids along.

Right now I have my sitter coming on Wed evenings to
watch my two younger kids while my daughter and I go
to her Girl Scout meetings together.

The money for a good sitter is worth it during deployment!!

And keep in mind SitterCity.com offers free membership
to military families!

Write Letters

I started writing letters to my husband during our first
deployment together. I wrote one every single night.
I was pregnant with our first baby and communication
was limited while he was in Iraq so I wrote everything in
a letter so he wouldn't miss a thing.

It kind of became tradition to write him letters while
he was gone.

Its therapeutic. Its nice to be able to "talk" to
him about my day, share funny stories about the kids,
keep him in the loop. I try to encourage him to stay
positive. Keep his head up. Make sure he knows that
we are missing him just as much.

Even if you don't write letters to your significant
other, start a journal. Writing is such a great way to
let off steam. Emotions run high during deployments
and you need to find an outlet to help you cope.

"Go to Work"

I put that in quotations because as a mom of three
one of the most difficult adjustments a deployment
brings is taking care of the kids on my own without
another pair of hands to help me.

I have to think of it like a job.

I wake up at 7am on the weekdays no matter what.
If the kids are still asleep then that's just bonus quiet time!
I allow myself one hour to wake up, drink my coffee,
and play on the computer.
At 8am I shut off the computer, get myself ready
for the day, get the kids dressed, then start my chores.
At 9am I start school work with Kayden.

The schedule keeps me sane.

On the weekends, I allow myself to sleep until
the kids get up. Last weekend my son chose 6:30am,
which I thought was completely unfair.

I also use the weekends to veg out in my pjs all
day long. I love my days off.

I just realized I don't get off work until 8:30/9pm
on most nights. That's a 13-14 hr work day!

Me Time

My mom will be proud of this one.
Please, please, please schedule some me time while
your husband is gone.

You totally deserve it.

At least once a month treat yourself to something nice.
Get a pedi, take a friend out to lunch, get a massage.

My friends and I love getting together after the kids
go to bed. One of us makes a Starbucks run and we hang
out watching trashy TV and laughing over nothing.

Its good for the soul!!!!!
And its a great break from the stress of a deployment.

I know how hard deployments can be. I also know that
everyone copes differently. One thing I ask of you is to
never put down another spouse because of the way she is
handling a deployment. Offer encouragement, offer to help.
Be a friend to that person and aid her through it.
During my last deployment I had to rely on a lot of people
to lift my spirits up and keep them there.
This time around is a lot different and I hope I am the one
lifting up those around me.

Top 5 Pinterest Recipes

I've been around the Pinterest world
for almost 2 years now and my main
use for it is finding new recipes.

Its no secret that I love food.

I've been able to test out quite a few of
my pinned recipes so I thought I would
share my top 5 favorites.

If you have an amazing recipe that I
should know about, let me know! I love
to cook and I love to eat!

Ps. Click the picture to take you to the recipe :)

No. 1 Oreo Fudge

I know.
I know.
The picture speaks for itself.
And yes, its as good as it looks.
Its fricken AWESOME.
And pretty easy to make.
Great, now I want some.

No. 2 Chicken Enchilada Pasta

This is REALLY good.
I made it for a potluck and everyone wanted the recipe.
Try it!!

No. 3 Monte Cristo Bites

Ok to be completely honest,
I've never made these. A friend did.
But I have eaten them and YUM.
She said they were a little bit of work
but worth it!

No. 4 Tomato Basil Parmesan Soup

I made this soup last winter.
If you're a fan of tomato soup, you will like this.
I really loved it with some crusty bread.
The flavor is just so comforting on a cold night.

No. 5 Pork Tacos

I've made this recipe quite a few times
because its sooooo easy!
It makes really good, tender taco meat.
Its so simple to throw together and makes for
a really good weeknight dinner!

I hope this blog post makes your tummy happy :)
It made me really hungry.
And now I've realized that I should probably
start adding these awesome recipes to my recipe box.
Who knows what will happen to these random blogs
they are currently posted on....

My Home Tour {pic heavy}

Ok I'm doing this for a few reasons.

1. I like to look back at pictures of places I used to
live and reminisce. I know we won't be here forever
so having pics of our home will be nice in the future.

2. Depending on how long we'll be here, I want to
redecorate all the bedrooms so getting the boring-ness
out in the wide open will give me more motivation
to actually do it.

3. Military families moving to 29 Palms can get an idea
of what base housing looks like, at least in my area.

4. It gave me a good reason to clean the entire house.

5. When I'm sad I can come back to this post and
remember what my house looks like when
its clean.

6. For all you nosy people who want to see how I live.

Welcome to my home!

Here's the living room and Kayden's homeschool
space. We used to have a rug and coffee table but
the kids decided that wasn't such a good idea.

To the right is our dining room and kitchen.

That door in our kitchen goes to the laundry room,
which you have unfortunately already seen.
(Laundry room make over is almost complete, stay tuned!)

 The hallway to the bedrooms.

One of my favorite features of this house is the hallway door!
Ps. See that giant crack in my wall straight ahead? Thank my
hubby and my dog for that. Wrestling and damaging property!

First we got Bubby's room. And yes, he has 2 closets.
Although I hijacked one for storage.

 Next is Kayden's room.

Continue down the hall to the other rooms.

Britton's room.

Our room and bathroom.

There it is :)

Our little home.

Besides the summer cricket infestation, I love this house.

I love that we have a one story with four bedrooms.

I love the hallway door.

I love our HUGE back yard which I will post pictures of
another time because that really needs some work right now lol

I love my giant kitchen and surplus of cupboard space.

I just feel so cozy here. I'll be sad when the day comes
that we have to leave!
